Chord Company
The Chord Company was founded in 1985, originating from a dinner conversation in Salisbury when Naim Audio USA retailers requested a quality DIN-to-RCA interconnect. Sally Gibb, married to a Naim Audio executive, suggested she create the cables, leading to the establishment of the business with Naim's support. The name "The Chord Company" resonated well, reflecting both musical themes and the American preference for the term "cords." Sally designed the logo and packaging while sourcing high-quality British materials.
The first prototype, named “Chrysalis Cable,” garnered an initial order of 250 from the US. Cables were built, tested, and packed, with invoices typed on a typewriter. After two years of steady work, The Chord Company received its first press review from Malcolm Steward, which significantly increased interest and led to a surge in inquiries.
